Before Morihei Ueshiba created Aikido there was Aikijujitsu,
Aikijujitsu is deeply rooted throughout the history of feudal Japan. Daito
Ryu Aikijujitsu perhaps being the most recognized of all Aikijujitsu.
The history of Aikido is a rich and some what diverse subject to
say the least. Morihei Ueshiba more affectionately known as "O'Sensei"
left a legacy of first generation Shihans that in turn created their own style of
Aikido.
We have provided you with a short history on some of the various
styles that are present in today's Aikido world.
If you would like to suggest another Shihan to be placed on our
Aikido History page who branched off and
started his own style or Aikido Federation please e-mail your recommendation to
fkani@wahingtonaiki.org.
